Job Description
This position will use a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and a strategic mindset to oversee and optimize the functionality of communication systems at Idaho State University. Utilizing Salesforce Marketing Cloud, the university's newly initiated digital communication and email marketing platform, responsibilities include overseeing internal and external communications campaign execution; data management; utilizing the platform to help drive marketing excellence and contribute to ISU’s overall growth; coordinating marketing and organizational strategy between departments; reviewing metrics and analytics; providing guidance on marketing and project strategy across teams and campaigns; high-level planning and strategy; and working with Information Technology Services to support Salesforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform to meet the University’s marketing, internal and external communication objectives:
- Recruitment marketing to drive student enrollment
- Supporting internal and external communications strategies to deliver impactful messaging to diverse audiences
- Create and adjust content, deploy messages, and segment audiences based on specific criteria; ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Design and execute marketing campaigns and communication plans using platform tools and functionalities; collaborate with designers, developers, and campus partners on campaign execution and content alignment. Create email templates, design personalized journeys, set up triggered and automated campaigns, and optimize campaign performance through A/B testing.
- Integrate university unit communication strategies into software platforms, aligning unit communication plans with university-level communication plans.
- Develop training materials, conduct workshops, and document best practices to train end-users on the platform’s features and capabilities.
- Monitor campaign performance by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing campaign metrics, identifying trends, and presenting data-driven insights to stakeholders.
- Work independently and with IT service representatives to manage user accounts; permissions, roles; data extensions; automate workflows; platform customization; troubleshoot technical issues; provide technical support to end users; manage interfaces/APIs between Marketing Cloud and other systems; write AMPScript, create tables, and manage data.
- Import, cleanse, and organize data within communication platforms to ensure data integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, graphic design, computer science, or a related field
- Experience creating internal and external communications for diverse audiences
- At least one (1) year of professional experience using Salesforce or similar systems to develop and implement communication or marketing strategies for an organization
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to develop objectives and implement tactics to accomplish an organization's strategic goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- At least 2 years experience using Salesforce systems to develop and implement communication or marketing strategies for an organization
- Experience in higher education marketing and communications
- Experience training and transferring complex information to others in individual and group settings
Additional Information

Salary will be between $60,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
