Staff Accountant
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing a variety of accounting, general ledger, reporting and analysis activities. The Staff Accountant provides day-to-day upkeep of accounting processes, SOP’s and data entry related to budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, customer and vendor accounts, purchasing/inventory transacting, payroll, regulatory and compliance and other tasks as required. This position reports to and carries out the direction of the Financial Controller.
EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other department team members, including Engineering, Construction Operations, Supply Chain and Human Resources to facilitate project execution, achieve company strategy and objectives, provide information as requested via data analysis and ad hoc reporting
- Responsible for completing routine daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, periodic tasks within expected and/or required time deadlines, meeting departmental goals and achieving Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets via appropriate allocation of workload and effective resource management
- Ensure the company is in compliance with various local, state and federal agencies.
- Engage in continuing education, training, and leadership development opportunities when presented.
- Provide good communication and feedback to customers and vendors, replying promptly to inquiries and keeping department and leadership informed when there are questions or concerns.
- Maintain required data points in various company software systems and data platforms to include CRM/Sales, Financial, Operations.
- Ensure invoices are billed at each project milestone properly, along with ensuring all payments are received in a timely manner from the customer
- Assist Human Resource Manager with processing of weekly payroll, validation of information and review for appropriateness, preparation and submission of Certified Payroll and other required reporting.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- Routine work is completed on time and accurately with minimal supervision
- Department-level KPIs are achieved and maintained at or above target.
- Communication with department and company management is consistent, clear and appropriate, bringing up matters that need to be addressed in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail to assist informed decision making
- Demonstrates a growth-oriented mindset and attitude, being a valuable part of a problem-solving team that brings solutions to the table and adapts well to changing environments.
- Satisfactory achievement of professional development goals as outlined and directed by supervisor, with input from team members.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum 5 years of experience required in accounting, payroll, business/office management
- Experience with renewable energy preferred
- Proficient Excel, Microsoft Word, and preferred experience with Smartsheets, Salesforce or other project management software and CRM required
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record (example- no DUI in the last 5 years)
