Overview
The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the Logistics Team and associated resources successfully manage the timely, efficient, and cost-effective procedures of the logistics team. The ideal candidate will be successful through the use of problem solving, vendor management, and analytical skills. The logistics manager will ensure that all routes are completed in a timely and effective manner. Success as a logistics manager requires good oral and written communication skills, leadership traits, organization, time-management skills, an ability to interpret financial data and estimate costs, and the willingness to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results and added value. Maintain team key performance indicators, metrics, reports, process documentation, and other records in support of a continuous improvement.
- Hire, direct, and train department personnel in roles and responsibilities regarding logistics processes and procedures.
- Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, replenishment, operations, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies, and customers.
- Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others.
- Ensure Ideal Nutrition fleet is taken care of by Logistics Team.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and customer service.
- Promote logistics operational excellence through best practices, standard procedures, performance, and innovation across all Ideal Nutrition locations and operating regions.
- Manage logistics costs within budget and achieve year-over-year improvement targets.
- Drive standard work procedures and reporting across facilities and regions.
- Embrace and promote the Ideal Nutrition (vision, values, culture) internally and externally to create a culture of innovation, accountability, and inclusivity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of Logistics experience is required with at least 3 years managing a logistics team.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously is required
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a variety of internal/external customers is required.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment with minimal supervision is required.
- Experience managing and creating delivery routes.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required (Outlook, Excel, Access).
- Experience with routing software, preferably Route4me.
- Excellent driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) highly preferred.
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine.
- Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 50lbs.
