Position Description
IDEAL seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and collaborative special educator or therapist with excellent communication and leadership skills to support associate teachers and to work closely with students and families in the Lower School Dylan Program. This individual will work in partnership with families, faculty, and administrators to support inclusion in the classroom and to tailor the program for each student in the Lower School Dylan Program as needed. The Lower School Dylan Program Coordinator will work especially closely with our Lower School Head and Director of Learning Support to support faculty in the classroom and to partner with families so that the flow of information, small and large, among all members of a child’s team is efficient and helpful.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Develop relationships with each child in the Lower School Dylan Program and facilitate each child’s relationships with their peers and other adults in the building
Observe, supervise, and evaluate Lower School Associate Teachers, as specified in the Faculty Handbook
Assist in the hiring process for Associate Teachers and in pairing Associate Teachers with students each year
Liaison with families to ensure meaningful and efficient conversation about topics large and small among families, school personnel, and students, always putting the student first
Support lead and associate teachers, in coordination with therapists, in differentiating instruction and activities to meet each individual child where they are and to facilitate full participation and increasing independence where appropriate
Participate in IEP Meetings
Work in coordination with Director of Learning Support to plan and advocate for effective and meaningful professional development for Associate Teachers
Working closely with each child’s family and team of teachers and therapists–as well as a family’s outside providers when requested - to promote a tailored, differentiated approach to all academic and social emotional components of the day, as well as behavior management
Serve as a point person and resource to work with each child’s team in promoting positive behaviors and social-emotional development and to be present and / or involved in urgent situations of all types, including but not limited to behavior issues and family concerns
Work closely with the Lower School Head, Director of Learning Support, and Head of School to ensure there is a collaborative, school-wide, team approach to the growth of each individual child in the Lower School Dylan Program
Required Qualifications
A passion for working with students with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities in an inclusive setting
Master’s Degree required in Education, Therapy, or related field
Special Education designation and / or experience
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Independent school experience preferred
At least 5 years of relevant, hands-on teaching or therapeutic experience preferred
Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning

Salary Range : $75,000 - 90,000 (this represents the expected salary range for this position. Salary will be determined based on education, experience, and other job-related factors)

Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
