Summary
IDEMIA NSS is looking for a Data Scientist to support delivery of market leading biometric algorithms to our customers. The role will support the analysis of internal and customer datasets to support threshold analysis and provide recommendations to our customers on the appropriate mission-oriented benchmarks to support their needs. In addition, the candidate will have direct program delivery involvement in improving a critical mission using data analysis and machine learning. The candidate will work to solve analytic questions of concern to national security and evolve data analysis capabilities for our customers.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a Scaled Agile Framework scrum team focused on product development and delivery across different customers as well as internal initiatives. The candidate will have significant experience with the full software development lifecycle along with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Primary Responsibilities
- Build statistical models, test hypotheses, interpret, summarize, visualize, and succinctly report on data findings
- Construct and perform complex database search queries in multiple databases using SQL and API interfaces
- Leverage automation and machine learning to manage data, predict scenarios and make recommendations to identify anomalies within the performance of the system
- Contribute to building new analytical tools and packages across the enterprise and expected to collaborate with team members in a highly technical environment
- Generate customer specific Receiver Operating Characteristic curves, specifically Detection Error Tradeoff curves
- Collaborate with a Global R&D organization to achieve shared outcomes
- Identifies technical path and plans work independently
- Communicate impediments and issues to a scrum team
- Learn and follow team standards and practices
- Actively participate in team code reviews as a presenter and a reviewee
- Actively share knowledge with their team and peers
- Participate in team presentations at Agile Release Train ceremonies
- Review team backlog and identify work assignments
- Work with a scrum team to breakdown Features into stories and work together to size the stories
- Develop high quality code from User Stories for delivery to IDEMIA customers
- Work closely with scrum team to meet sprint goals
- Self-manager who researches current and emerging technologies and adheres to best practices
- PhD in a highly quantitative subject or related field (for example, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related field)
- Strong experience with Python programming language
- Experience with data manipulation, analytic/business insight tools, and data visualization
- Experience/ knowledge of computer science concepts, data architecture, and statistics
- Demonstrated experience using statistical and machine learning techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning and natural language processing
- Development of identity, specifically biometric algorithms related to the detection, 1:1, and 1:N models
- Ten years of software engineering experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Object-Oriented programming skills
- Practical knowledge of and experience employing sound engineering principles and problem-solving methods
- Good working knowledge of best practices for coding including clear comments, source control, and code reviews
- Proficient in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Significant Experience with cloud development in AWS or Azure
- Agile/Scaled Agile Framework certifications/training
- PhD in a highly quantitative subject or related field (for example, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related field)
- Some travel may be required
- Normal office working conditions and physical demands
- Ability to successfully achieve and retain secret clearance
