Compensation: $56,900 - $79,700
The Purchasing Specialist will include analyzing new requests for materials, determining appropriate action for orders, creating/issuing purchase orders in ERP, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. This role will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.

The Purchasing Specialist will include analyzing new requests for materials, determining appropriate action for orders, creating/issuing purchase orders in ERP, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. This role will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Independently analyze incoming requests for inventory and determine appropriate course of action (transfer vs buy)
- Analyze warehouse trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions
- Process requisitions and update management on status of open orders
- Build relationships with suppliers and branch personnel
- Review inventory reports and ensure that stock levels are at appropriate levels
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
- Coordinate with inventory team, management as required
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills, proficiency using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong work ethic and drive to accomplish goals
- College degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 2-4 years in inventory, procurement, forecasting and analysis preferred
- Experience with an ERP (SAP) System preferred
- Building materials industry experience preferred
