Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Sales Tax Accountant:
- Reporting, verification, and filing of sales tax and miscellaneous tax returns in multiple taxing jurisdictions
- Ensuring all returns are filed timely and accurately
- Assisting, as needed, with audits for the tax types filed and research pertaining to sales, use, and miscellaneous taxes
- Coordinating, preparing reports, and filing returns compliant with federal, state, and local jurisdictions
- Preparing accounting entries and account reconciliation to reflect filings and balance General Ledger accounts
Required Skills for Sales Tax Accountant:
- Minimum of 2 years of sales tax experience in a corporate, government, or public accounting environment
- General knowledge of tax trends and processes
- Ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel (Pivot Tables) and Word
- Ability to research, audit, and analyze
- Knowledge of sales tax audits
