What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Supervisor position at IDS Blast?
We are seeking a Welding Supervisor to become an integral part of our ASME Pressure Vessel product group! The successful candidate will have experience with MIG, TIG, and SAW welding equipment to oversee the welding program.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision of Welders: Assigning tasks, monitoring performance and ensuring deadlines are met
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all welding work meets industry standards, project specifications and quality checks. Conduct quality checks
- Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Training and Development: Provide training for new welders and ongoing training for current welders
- Resource Management: Manage materials, equipment and tools required for welding operations. Ensure proper maintenance and storage of welding equipment
- Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in planning and scheduling welding tasks to ensure efficient workflow. Coordinate with other departments and contractors as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of welding operations, including work completed, materials used and incidents or non-conformances. Generate reports as needed
- Problem-Solving: Identify potential problems or challenges in wielding projects and work to resolve them properly
- Compliance: Ensure all welding practices comply with relevant standards, codes and customer requirements
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent: a degree in welding technology or engineering is preferred
- Certification as a welding Inspector (CWI) or Welding Supervisor
- 5 years in welding, with at least 2 years supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of welding processes, material codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME)
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficient in weld fixture design/ build
- Excellent automation, electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Experience with Lincoln/ Miller MIG/ TIG and SAW welding equipment
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII, Div. 1, Section V and Section IV experience is a must
