Essential Functions
- Oversees and supervises the direct labor force, coaches employees as necessary.
- Assists employees with meeting daily performance goals.
- Opens and closes facilities as needed—includes any associated security procedures.
- Conducts physical inventory and cycle count activities.
- Performs general inspections as required.
- Utilizes the Warehouse Management System as related to productivity.
- Performs the task of the Warehouse Associate and/or Assistant Team Leader.
- Responsible for ensuring food safety and quality guidelines are followed.
- Skilled in operating material handling equipment (MHE) including forklifts, with accountability for the safe and efficient use of equipment in the warehouse.
- Complies with all company inventory control and security procedures and ensures compliance by others.
- Is responsible for the security and application of good warehousing inventory practices.
- Possesses specific knowledge of safety protocols for the facility and customer accounts.
- Complies with all government and company safety rules.
- Is responsible for the safety of employees in their assigned area.
- Reports promptly to supervision any safety violations of workers, safety noncompliance of facilities and equipment, and other safety issues.
- Ability to operate a sit-down, counter-balanced forklift, with company certification as a minimum requirement.
- Ability to use various equipment, including order pickers, high-lifts, pallet jacks, and forklift attachments like slip sheeters and clamps.
- Ability to train and coach others on the safe and efficient use of all equipment within their area of responsibility.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Ability to supervise small shifts or operations.
- Proficiency with MHE is required.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English—both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to think logically and problem-solve to analyze situations, troubleshoot, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- The Team Leader must be proficient in executing the job functions of the roles that report to them. As a subject matter expert in these functions, they will be responsible for training new associates joining the team.
