Job Summary
IEEE is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic senior scrum master who has project management and product operating model experience to join our team. The Senior Scrum Master will support Product-Oriented Delivery (POD) teams within a product development-driven environment. The Senior Scrum Master ensures POD(s) live agile values and principles and follow standard processes, practices, and metrics as agreed upon with the different layers of an organization. The Senior Scrum Master drives interactions across the POD members and stakeholders to maximize the value created and delivered by the POD. The Senior Scrum Master ensures clear communication and organization of the team in all aspects of the standard Agile / Scrum process. The Senior Scrum Master will work closely with the Release Train Engineers and will require close partnerships with Business partners and technology teams.
We are seeking a candidate who can think critically and problem-solve, influence, and has a track record of ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
This role reports to the leader of IT PMO and will entail daily interaction with business, project management, and IT teams across the IEEE organization.
Key Responsibilities
- As Scrum Master for one or more Scrum teams, facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, grooming / elaboration, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
- Facilitate scrum and agile frameworks to provide timely results within the sprint timeline, serving as an extension of the coach
- Guide, mentor, and coach Product-Oriented Delivery (POD) in scrum and agile principles to maximize effectiveness.
- Identify potential risks / impediments and areas of improvement for future sprints. Eliminate obstacles that hinder the team's task execution by collaborating with business stakeholders, managers, and operations staff.
- Support the organization as it embraces agility and builds organizational awareness of business changes and impacts
- Consolidate POD health, progress, actions, and any additional relevant information to provide updates during Agile ceremonies such as Business Reviews. Raise concerns when required to stakeholders and concerned managers.
- Partner with business product owners to efficiently manage the product backlog, including prioritization and estimation.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path items.
- Foster self-organization and a culture of ownership and accountability in the team.
- Facilitate collaboration and conversations to ensure productive outcomes.
- Tailor approach to the communication styles and attitudes of the group.
- Respectfully challenge and help illuminate the problem areas; encourage the team to experiment and create a safe environment for the team to learn.
