Job Summary: The IEM Training and Development Division is seeking a DoD SkillBridge Intern - Instructional Designer for no less than 90 days to gain experience as an Instructional Designer. The internship is expected to run for no more than 180 days for all DoD SkillBridge Interns.
This internship position is open to only active-duty service members that are separating or retiring from the United States Armed Forces.
All military service members will follow the DODI 1322.29 SkillBridge guidance and their prescribed military branch of service directives, regulations, or policies and will continue to receive active duty pay from the Department of Defense.
This internship position is an entry to mid-level career type role. All military service members will receive job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to no more than 40 hours per week in accordance with the DODI 1322.29 SkillBridge guidance. Additionally, service members will be allowed to time to complete medical appointments and other military out-processing requirements and earn their FEMA Professional Development Series Certificate during their time as an intern.

IEM is seeking either one summer Intern or one DoD SkillBridge Intern to work in IEM's, Corporate Communications.
Primary Location:
- Candidates can originate from anywhere in the United States, you will work remotely from home or personal office location.
- All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.

Essential Functions:
- Support projects related to Instructional Designer.
- Additional responsibilities:
- Leverage adult learning and instructional design theories (e.g. ADDIE and/or CRI) to identify appropriate training strategies, design and develop engaging courses, and produce high-quality deliverables.
- Apply instructional design theories during internal customer consultations to determine potential need, analyze requirements, and develop training content.
- Use course-authoring software (e.g. Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, H5P, etc) to develop SCORM-based training modules.
- Develop a variety of training products for both internal audiences in multiple delivery formats for a geographically diverse audience (e.g. eLearning, webinars, instructor-led, synchronous and asynchronous)
- Basic data management skills, including running reports and analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Has served at least 180 days on active duty in any of the U.S. Armed Forces
- Is within 180 active-duty days of separation or retirement from any of the U.S. Armed Forces (application process can start prior to the 180 days)
- Must be on track to receive an Honorable Discharge
- Has completed or is in the process of completing all required service TAPS/TGPS courses and/or Capstone requirement.
- Signed command memorandum (first field grade commander in chain of command with UCMJ authority) allowing service member to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship Program stating start and end dates of DoD SkillBridge Internship.
- Must receive command (first field grade commander in chain of command with UCMJ authority) signature on the IEM DoD SkillBridge Internship Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Experience in any of these military occupational/skills areas: Strategic or Operational Planner, and Instructor/Course Development
- Self-motivation, with ability to work as part of a team and build strong customer relationships. Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present information to internal senior management and onsite clients/stakeholders.
- Experience in the MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams). Knowledge of SharePoint.
- Experience in leading Training sessions and/or exercises.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience of at least six (6) months of professional experience, which can include experience in military related to military occupational specialties.
- Has or is pursuing a bachelor's in instructional design.
- 3.0 GPA or higher
