Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Plasma Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a CNC plasma cutting machine. The operator will use computer-aided design (CAD) software to precisely cut metal sheets to specified dimensions and tolerances using a high-heat plasma torch. Quality control, machine monitoring, and adherence to safety protocols are critical throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup: Load metal sheets onto the cutting table and adjust machine parameters such as cutting speed, amperage, and gas pressure based on material type and desired cut quality.
Programming: Create and import CNC programs using CAD software to define cutting paths for complex shapes and designs.
Operation: Monitor the plasma cutting process, ensuring consistent quality and making necessary adjustments.
Quality Control: Inspect cut parts for accuracy, tolerances, and surface finish, identifying and reporting any defects.
Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of the machine, monitor consumables like cutting tips and nozzles, and report malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
Safety Procedures: Follow all safety guidelines related to operating a plasma cutting machine, including wearing proper personal protective equipment.
Specific Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Understanding of CNC programming and basic knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD software used for CNC programming.
Measurement Skills: Ability to accurately measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot machine issues and adjust settings to optimize cutting quality.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring precise cuts and maintaining high-quality standards.
Work Environment:
Industrial manufacturing facility.
Exposure to noise and heat from the plasma cutting machine.
