Manufacturing Engineering – Summer Intern

Position Description

ifm prover USA, inc. located in Malvern PA is looking for a technically inclined and curious student to complete his/her summer internship supporting our manufacturing engineering team during the upcoming summer break. During this summer opportunity the matching candidate will have the chance to gather first-hand experience completing research, evaluations, and hands-on tasks in different areas of engineering. The work environment will include laboratories, office space, as well as our production floor. This paid internship encompasses 8 weeks (possibly more, depending on candidate’s availability) of 40 hours a week.

 

Job Responsibilities

During this summer the intern will complete a variety of tasks related to Mechanical and Process Engineering.

o   Mechanical Engineering Tasks:

·         Design or redesign shrouds for existing machinery and fixtures using Solidworks

·         Labeling and documenting all wires, hoses and connections

·         Updating wiring diagram if necessary.

·         Cooperating with suppliers to obtain proper parts and products

·         Creating detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance

·         Researching possible replacement options and improvement opportunities

o   Process Engineering Tasks

·         With the support of ifm engineers help improve the automation of certain production line segments.

·         Collecting and documenting pertaining data

·         Improvement validation and implementation into production line

o   Educational Content

·         Equipment design for manufacturing environments

·         Modern fabrication methods

·         Ergonomic and Safety standards

Requirements

• Technical aptitude and hands-on experience
• Experience with Solidworks
• Entry level knowledge of electrical wiring
• Experience on a cnc mill will prove helpful in this role
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Being driven and goal-oriented
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (speaking, reading and writing)
