The Company:
IGE Performance Chemicals (IGE) is a chemical manufacturing and processing company located in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. IGE has a chemical product R&D development team, which develops manufacturing processes in a lab for different specialty chemical products, starting with a pilot-scale manufacturing process and finishing with a medium-large scale production setup. Additionally, IGE has a production team consisting of 15 people, which performs synthesis and physical processing (grinding, blending, sieving, etc.) of specialty chemicals.
The Position:
The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for managing the transportation and shipments of hazardous materials to our customers and vendors. The Shipping Coordinator will ensure that all shipments comply with relevant safety regulations, proper documentation is prepared, and all necessary procedures are followed to ensure safe and legal transportation of goods. The Shipping Coordinator will coordinate with 3rd parties such as, freight forwarders and couriers, to schedule pickup and delivery of goods.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that shipments comply with safety and regulatory standards
- Thoroughly review and understand all applicable HazMat regulations (DOT, IATA, etc.)
- Regularly communicate and coordinate with IGE’s headquarters facility in NY with scheduling deliveries and pickups as well as with freight forwarders and couriers.
- Ensure compliance with packaging, labeling and shipping documentation requirements for hazardous materials.
- Prepare accurate shipping documentation for HazMat shipments, including manifests, labels, and safety data sheets (SDS)
- Oversee the proper packaging of hazardous materials according to regulations and specific product requirements.
- Conduct regular HazMat training sessions for staff involved in shipping hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Associates degree required; 5 years of experience in shipping Hazardous Materials is required.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of DOT, IATA and other relevant regulations governing HazMat transportation is required.
- HazMat certification is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with freight forwarders and couriers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
