Shipper Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
· Receiving job travelers with parts ready to ship taking note of any special handling instructions
· Inspecting all parts rejecting, marking and segregating all non-conforming material and/or incorrect parts, notifying Shipping Specialist of any issues
· Checking part counts against job travelers and notifying Shipping Specialist of discrepancies, moving extra parts to scrap if there are no other open orders for them
· Wrapping, skidding, and banding parts as necessary to protect from moisture and shifting and to maintain appropriate load limits, marking with customer name, customer purchase order number, job traveler number, and delivery date
· Staging completed parts by customer/delivery date
· Receiving parts back from outsource and routing to quality control area, notifying the Shipping Coordinator to receive in E2 and attacking paperwork with job traveler to parts
· Notifying Shipping Specialist when shipping supplies inventory is low
· Keeping warehouse and work area clean and organized per LEAN directives
· Keeping the parking lot clean and free of any obstructions for trucks
· Loading IGH trucks with products, distributing weight, covering and strapping as necessary for safe and lawful delivery
· Routing completed job travelers, delivery receipts, outside carrier receipts and other paperwork to Shipping Coordinator
· Notifying Shipping Specialist of any circumstances that could result in failure to meet delivery due dates
· Participating in all scheduled safety meetings and following IOSHA guidelines
· Completing quality control visual inspection training, forklift operation training, and LOTO training
· Potential for driving company vehicles for deliveries
· Other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills/Abilities
· Ability to interpret blueprints
· Attention to detail. Strong time management and organizational skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. (Orders are built to contain customization based on customer requests.)
· Self-motivated and can work independently with minimal supervision.
· Regular and reliable attendance
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization
Education
· High school diploma or GED.
· General knowledge of steel fabrication
· Computer/Technology skills are required
· Willingness to learn new skills and programs
Work Environment
· Employee will frequently be exposed to work near moving machinery and mechanical parts.
· Requires frequent standing and walking for up to 10 hours per day.
· May be required to occasionally lift up to 50lbs without restrictions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
