Job Summary:
The Sr. Director of Strategic Finance will be responsible for setting the vision for, and building and managing the Strategic Finance team. This role reports to the SVP Finance.
This is a crucial leadership role, working directly with the most senior leadership of the company, cross-functionally with business partners and Head of FP&A across the broader organization to set strategic direction for the company. You can expect to define and guide the team to drive detailed analyses to derive insights that will drive key business decisions, help track key performance metrics for the company, and act as a strategic partner to our Product and Business leadership teams. You’ll focus real-time on high-priority business issues and see your insights turned into impactful initiatives on a regular basis.
The perfect candidate will have an investment banking or corporate strategy background in a retail ecommerce setting paired with experience at scaling businesses, strong quantitative and analytical skills, along with experience or interest in running efficient, cross-functional processes.
Job Expectations:
- Responsible for driving strategy for the company in partnership with FP&A, working cross-functionally, to identify, scope and monitor innovative growth opportunities and initiatives
- Work closely and directly with the FP&A team in financial goal setting and financial planning
- Evaluating new business opportunities. Develop data-driven investment theses, business cases, and evaluation criteria for growth and efficiency oriented initiatives; Support the PMO
- Own Company Planning, collaborating cross-functionally with the cross functional executive team, finance, and PMO driving alignment and accountability mechanisms
- Keep the SVP of Finance informed regarding business performance, risks and opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve financial performance.
- Support department heads and business owners with financial analysis and business decisions.
- Report trends and high level business issues to the business leaders, FP&A and SVP Finance.
- Work closely and collaboratively with FP&A to support acquisition target evaluation, due diligence and integration
- Work closely and collaboratively with Investor Relations in messaging with investors and equity research analyst
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Strategic thinking
- Blend of business strategy and data savvy; a big-picture vision as well as the drive and attention to detail that transforms the vision into a reality
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, wholesale industries preferred
- Experience hiring, training, mentoring and managing a project team
- Experience in leading and crafting executive updates and presentations at the most senior levels of a company.
- Solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.
- Ability to multi-task
- Establish and track success metrics/KPIs that demonstrate the overall health of a project portfolio
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Equipment Knowledge:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence and/or strategy.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
