Job Summary:
Ravenswood Generating Station is located along the East River in Long Island City Queens. It accounts for almost 28% of the generating capacity in NYC. Ravenswood consists of 3 Thermal Units (Units 10/20/30), 1 Combined Cycle Unit (Unit 40) and 1 simple cycle Gas Turbine (GT10).
Ravenswood is looking for an inquisitive and highly motivated person who can effectively communicate to join our team as a summer intern for 2025. Our dynamic team is highly skilled in our field and enjoys teaching others what we are passionate about. If you are selected for the internship you will learn about an industry that is essential to everyday life. Focal areas will include industrial processes, control systems, thermodynamics, process improvement, business acumen, and much more.

Job Functions
The Ravenswood Intern will work closely with a Ravenswood employee lead, shadowing in several areas of plant management, operations, management, and performance. The interns will be completing assignments in our computerized training system as well as shadowing in one or more of the plant areas: plant engineering, environmental performance and monitoring, regulatory compliance, maintenance, and operations.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or planning on attending a 2–4-year program or interested in exploring employment opportunities within the power industry.
At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
Must be in NYC area from June to August 2025, remote opportunities are not available
All candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Interest in learning about what it is like to work in a power plant environment.
Commitment to following all safety protocols, time and attendance policies and following directions.
Ability to grasp new concepts.
Willingness to learn from others and work in a team environment.
Capable of working on multiple tasks in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:
Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including excel, word, power point, AutoCAD, etc.
In the process of pursuing a technical degree in engineering, power production, or science related field.
Knowledge of scheduling tools such as P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Familiar with power production technology
Understanding of industrial safety best practices.

Must be able to work on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing, and occasionally lifting 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Requires working both in an office setting and in the field in all weather conditions and common power plant conditions (heat/noise).
Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of certain duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Includes attending meetings and speaking professionally in a group setting.
Expected to work independently and provide results within a deadline.
