Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a seasoned commercial electrician—preferably with journeyman or foreman experience—to join the Lapp Electric team as a project manager. This key role not only involves leading the technical and operational aspects of commercial electrical projects but also focuses on building strong, lasting relationships with clients.
Working closely with customers, a project manager will scope, bid, and execute projects, handling every detail with professionalism and expertise from start to finish. Success in this role requires a combination of leadership, technical expertise, sales acumen, and an unwavering commitment to delivering top-tier customer service.
You will also be responsible for managing project goals, timelines, and budgets to achieve profitability while maintaining Lapp’s high standards of excellence. This role reports directly to the Commercial Construction Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee electrical projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Scope and bid projects directly with customers, ensuring accurate cost estimates and clear communication of project details.
- Generate agreed-upon yearly gross revenues per fiscal year while meeting required gross profit levels.
- Lead and supervise job site teams, providing direction and support as needed.
- Conduct project planning, including material procurement and pricing negotiations, cost control, and scheduling.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including motor controls and PLC operations.
- Maintain safety standards and enforce company policies on-site.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to address project needs and expectations.
- Prepare and review blueprints, wiring schematics, and job plans.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members.
Qualifications
- Complete support of and willing adherence to Lapp’s Mission, Vision and the Qualities of a L.A.P .P .E.R: Leadership, Accessible, Positive Attitude, Perseverance, Encourager, Reliable. Applicants must hold these standards as his/her own.
- 10 – 15 years proven expertise in commercial electrical field experience and current knowledge of electrical code.
- Knowledge of motor controls, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Strong relationship-building, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
- Have the ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in variable conditions, and be on your feet 8 – 10 hours per day.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Licensed as a Master Electrician, Journeyman, or equivalent experience as a field supervisor or foreman strongly preferred.
