What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Dispatch Manager position at IK Hofmann?
Our client is looking to add a Transportation Dispatch Manager to their team.
Daily Responsibilities of Transportation Manager:
Coordinate shipment schedules by dispatching company or contracted drivers to deliver and pick up materials from customers and feeder yards.
Communicate relevant details to drivers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries, maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Monitor truck routes and statuses to optimize scheduling and improve operational efficiency.
Collaborate with drivers to address and resolve any issues or challenges during pickups or deliveries.
Provide rate quotes and analyze costs to maintain efficiency and transparency.
Communicate directly with customers regarding driver schedules, route adjustments, and any concerns to ensure exceptional service.
Monitor and uphold quality standards while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental protocols in the metals recycling industry.
Prepare and deliver timely reports and updates to management as needed.
Qualifications of Transportation Manager:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Prior experience as a dispatcher or in field service scheduling preferred.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and standards.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to quickly learn industry-specific software.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent phone etiquette.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment: Willingness to work on-site and occasionally outdoors in varying weather conditions while learning the business and operational roles.
