GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION |
The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient coordination of deliveries and transportation logistics within Warrenton Oil Company. This position will oversee internal inventory management, route management and assigning drivers to loads. They will lead and manage the dispatch team and ensure excellent customer service by optimizing routes and resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency. They are expected to adhere to DOT and company guidelines, codes, and regulations. |
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
Hire, train, coach and supervise dispatchers. |
Create and manage dispatch schedules that best align with business and company needs. |
Monitor driver progress through tracking systems and report results to the management team. |
Manage customer orders, address delivery concerns and provide updates on delivery status. |
Manage FastLane store fuel inventory levels. |
Manage fuel supply, allocation and pricing to ensure the most economic fuel procurement. |
Monitor road conditions and traffic updates to adjust routes as needed. |
Create, implement and track key performance indicators (e.g., load time, driver efficiency, etc.). |
Resolve delivery challenges, including weather-related delays, truck breakdowns or customer issues. |
Identify areas for improvement and effectively implement process changes. |
Generate reports on dispatch performance for the management team. |
Create and foster a culture of teamwork between drivers and dispatch. |
Develop and optimize delivery routes based on customer location, fuel type and truck capacity to maximize efficiency. |
Assign delivery tasks to drivers based on availability, qualifications and route requirements. |
Understand, own and train fuel dispatch technology and tools. |
Recommend policies, procedures and/or actions related to the transportation department for the purpose of maintaining an adequate number of drivers. |

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & TRAINING |
Fuel dispatching experience preferred. |
Familiar with standard transportation truck maintenance. |
Truck safety and DOT proficiency. |
Knowledge of locational geography preferred. |
Proficiency with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems. |
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. |
Four or more years of experience in people management. |
Bachelor's degree preferred. Commensurate education, training, and experience may be considered. |
