What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer III position at IKM Architecture?
IKM Architecture is seeking an experienced Interior Designer III with a minimum of eight years of professional interior design experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design is required, and a professional license is preferred but not mandatory. The person in this role will be central to conceptualization, provides full support through the entire project. Liaises with Project Manager, Architect and consultants. Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects. Coordinates with Lead Architect on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies planning, and execution of interior projects, and have a strong focus on healthcare environments.
Responsibilities:
- Generate architectural concepts for interior projects, with comprehensive responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
- Provide specialized knowledge in healthcare design to support the development of functional, innovative, and patient-centered spaces.
- Oversee the planning and design phases of large-scale or multiple projects, ensuring that all project elements meet both client expectations and regulatory standards.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, translating client needs into actionable design strategies.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to deliver cohesive project outcomes.
- Maintain high standards in all aspects of project design and documentation, meeting firm-wide and industry-specific benchmarks.
- Guide junior interior designers and contribute to a collaborative, supportive work environment.
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to meeting project deadlines and client expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
- 8 years or more of professional interior design experience, with at least 2 years focused on healthcare environments, preferred
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Licensed professional certification in interior design (e.g., NCIDQ) is preferred.
