THE OPPORTUNITY (POSITION OVERVIEW)
Reporting to the Payroll Coordinator, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for performing payroll-related duties at the professional level and may assist or carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas : Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data. Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department / division transfers. Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests. This individual will have a proven track record in delivering superior results in a Payroll Administrative role, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage and job title and department / division transfers.
Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Ensure accuracy of all employee information.
Coordinate any employee changes in all areas (eg. Benefits, payroll etc.)
Assist with the execution of the exit process.
Other Duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

When needed to support a school or education program, must have the ability to travel by public transit as well as operate a vehicle for self-transportation purposes between worksites.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING (QUALIFICATIONS)
Associate’s Degree or 1 Year experience in related field.
Human Resources certification is a plus.
Previous professional personnel experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
Thrive in a collaborative, team based and fast-paced environment.
Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Mac platform proficient.
Ability to thrive and work effectively independently and as a part of a team.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, meet deadlines, problem-solve and multi-task.
