The Early Learning Programs make early education available to young children so they will be ready to succeed when they start school. Our early learning programs include Pre-K and Head Start, and a national model for providing preschool to children in family child care homes who would otherwise not have access to this classroom-based program. We train child care providers to be more empowered in their work and professional development. We bring certified teachers, child development experts, nutrition and literacy training, and thousands of books and resources into family child care homes. We work with parents, community groups, and local governments to identify the best ways to connect children with early learning opportunities.
Illinois Action for Childrens Early Learning Program is currently seeking Professional Educator Licensed Teachers (Type 04)
Under the direction of the assigned Teacher Coach or Site Director, the PEL (Professional Educator License)
Teacher takes the lead in working with the entire classroom team to implement a formal child screening process, a research-based curriculum that addresses the Illinois Early Learning Standards, on-going child assessment, parent involvement and community collaboration. All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organizational standards.

This incumbent will be expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement, communication, competent people and clear priorities. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organizational standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.
- Coordinates and completes developmental screenings of all children.
- Implements active supervision of children at all times and ensuring child safety.
- Teaches children in large groups, small groups, and individually. Teaches each class daily as scheduled and assigned.
- Works with the classroom team to implement the research-based curriculum, serving as educational leader, and modeling excellent teaching practices.
- Convenes meetings of the classroom team each week to develop lesson plans and child assessment results and develops individualized instruction plans.
- Completes regular quarterly assessments of each childs learning. Generates Class Profile Report from Teaching Strategies GOLD to assess child outcomes.
- Welcomes parents/guardian in the program and seeks out their support and involvement. Holds parent-teacher conferences throughout the year, including an end-of-year transition conference. Plans and conducts parent-child activities for bi-monthly Family Fun nights and plans monthly field trips.
- Works collaboratively with all applicable staff, as well as community partners to ensure a seamless transition into kindergarten.
- Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for children with special needs (usually held at the school district) as requested by parents/guardian.
- Maintains a comprehensive and ongoing education file for each child, including weekly observations in each area, examples of the childs work, and developmental assessment.
- Completes enrollment applications and receives supporting documentation.
- Maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assures that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
- Completes continuing professional development units annually
- Executes our workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people and clear priorities.
- Independently works on multiple tasks effectively in support of department.
- Other functions: The organization may assign other functions to the job at its discretion.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Bachelors degree with a Level 5 Gateway and a Substitute license

Valid IL Professional Educator License with Early Childhood Education Endorsement Preferred
While we desire for this job posting to be comprehensive, all aspects of the position may be amended at any time at the discretion of IAFC including job duties, work location and/or work schedule.
$3,000 sign-on bonus for external hires (50% - 90 days after start and 50% at end of program year, if employed by IAFC). Hiring range starts at $53,000 but is based on experience. IL Action for Children is EEO/M/F/V/D employer.
