Key Responsibilities:

· Supervises the daily activities of the shipping and receiving department by prioritizing work assignments for hourly team members. Plans and executes department workload to meet our high standards for On-Time Delivery and short lead times, eliminating order picking errors and waste, and ensuring efficient labor utilization.

· Participate in the selection, retention and development of personnel including interviewing, performance appraisals, and promotion recommendations. Develops programs and procedures for the training of hourly team members.

· Accountable for training, motivation and leadership within the area of responsibility. Develops a teamwork-based environment. Builds high functional standards for performance. Ensures that all employees in the shipping department are properly trained.

· Develop and implement procedures that ensure order pick/pack area works efficiently, extremely accurately, and safely in meeting customer order due dates.

· Determine labor resources needed to meet immediate and short-term horizon order shipment goals. Presents labor utilization and staffing plan to the Operations Manager that balances order volume and labor cost targets.

· Manages warehouse and rack space in the most logical, efficient, and safe manner.

· Executes required inventory control transactions for inventory, supplies, and corrugated items to ensure the company avoids inventory losses and product availability issues. Manage related inventory systems, ERP, and bar-code scanner programs to meet inventory control objectives.

· Oversee forklift and related material handling assets for proper and safe use.

· Ensures that materials shipped or received are verified against pertinent documentation. Identifies damaged items and shortages and communicates with shipper to rectify issues. Reports defective materials and other issues to the Operations Manager and functional leaders.

· Ensure timely preparation and processing of all production materials through receiving inspection.

· Manages inbound/outbound truck flow and dock utilization/turnaround time, including establishing schedules, appointments, etc. as necessary.

· Responsible for proper storage of approved finished goods as well as checking inbound shipments against order and shipment documents for accuracy and quality.

· Responsible for investigating any discrepancies in daily shipping and receiving transactions.

· Promotes a safe work environment and ensures that all employees in the shipping/receiving department are following safety rules and regulations

· Maintain a safe and clean work space

· May perform other duties as requested by management

Requirements:

· Minimum 3 years of shipping and receiving supervisory experience required.

· High school diploma or GED required. Some or more college education a plus.

· Bilingual Spanish is preferred / a plus

· Forklift License required

· Ability to build strong internal relationships with other departments, and willingness to take initiative.

· Knowledge of and experience with all shipping functions, systems, and paperwork, including parcel/ground, LTL trucking, shipment documents (e.g. bills of lading, Advanced Ship Notification). Proficient at managing shipping discrepancies and damaged goods situations.

· Knowledge of and experience with packaging materials used to safely transport all product required

· Knowledge of picking orders, quality control, inventory control and receiving inspection

· Knowledge of dock/truck management, including truck appointments

· Ability to follow and issue verbal and written instructions and to direct the work of others to meet customer needs

· Ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple and changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems

· Reliability and willingness to work 40 hours a week to meet deadlines

Compensation:

The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor has a compensation dependent on the candidate's experience.
