What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Systems Administrator position at Illinois Central College?
The Network Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for providing professional support for the college’s IT network systems and services. This role will lead efforts to ensure all systems and services operate efficiently and securely, focusing on the reliability, performance, and availability of key systems, including but not limited to supporting ICC’s Data Center, servers (physical and virtual storage), telecommunications, remote access, security patching and data storage backups. It is expected that on average, at least 10% of the time worked may include overnight, weekend, and holiday projects, and the need to be on call outside of business hours during unplanned events.This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. - Responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting ICC network systems and services.
- Manage and support the college's Windows environment, including client and server systems, and printing.
- Document and update work processes.
- Data Center support.
- Perform backups and restoration for network resources.
- Perform network, security, and compliance audits as requested or scheduled.
- Provide daily administration for Microsoft Active Directory.
- Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications.
- Support virtualization technologies.
- Provide support for facility automation and security systems.
- Provide support for Point-of-Sale systems.
- Licensing renewals.
- Maintain current knowledge of role and support research and development efforts
- On call, required to carry a cellular device.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Associate's degree in a related field with 3 years of related work experience in network administrative support; OR 5 or more years of direct work experience in network administrative support.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office/365 applications.
- Proficient with Microsoft server operating systems.
- Strong understanding of virtualization applications.
- Strong analyzing and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizing and prioritizing skills to meet critical deadlines.
- Strong multi-tasking and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
- Applicable certifications such as Net , Security , MCP, MCSA, MCSE.
