International Student Mentor in Office of Global Programming
The International Student Mentor will assist the Illinois College Office for Global Programming in supporting the success of international students at Illinois College. This position will be tasked with assisting during New International Student Orientation and continuing to provide support to new international students throughout the fall semester. This outcomes-based position will foster a positive campus experience for international students and contribute to the efforts to build a more inclusive campus community. The ideal candidate would be equally comfortable working independently and with small or large groups. The position’s duration will begin with International Student Orientation until the end of the fall semester.

Responsibilities
- Assist in New International Student Orientation in August.
- Continue providing support for new international students throughout the fall semester, communicating concerns to Director of Global Programming.
- Actively participate in Koine International student organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Have a personal understanding of cultural adjustment challenges.
- Able to provide leadership in a group setting.
- Empathetic listener.
- Responsible leader/IC student on and off campus.
- Must be an Illinois College student.
- Any Illinois College student may apply, but preferred consideration will be given to students with international experience, such as sophomore, junior, or senior international students, domestic (residents of the U.S.) students who have lived in another country, or domestic students who have studied abroad.
- Some weekends and evenings will be necessary based on events.
- Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Preference will be given to students who can come to campus early for the International Student Orientation.
