Essential Functions
- Prepares and distributes a wide variety of statistic reports.
- Transcribes recorded medical dictation (histories and physicals, consultation, discharge summaries, etc.).
- Files a large variety of reports and documents in permanent medical records, including reports thinned from nursing unit medical records as well as loose reports {lab, ex-ray, etc.) from various sources.
- Assists Medical Information Administrator in making medical appointments and arranging for transportation to the appointments for Veteran members.
- Assists Medical Information Administrator with clerical duties relating to the operation of the Nursing section.
- Assembles and analyzes medical records {discharges, deaths, leave of absence) for deficiencies to ensure completeness and compliance with standards.
- Types, distributes, and fields a variety of documents and reports including medical profiles, professional service order, memorandums, correspondence, etc.
- Responds to inquires of a non-technical nature by telephone or in person.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
- Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass a background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
- Requires use of agency-supplied equipment (mobile phone, laptop, etc.).
- Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
