Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire an organized and detail-oriented Office Coordinator to perform paraprofessional secretarial work for the Evaluation Center at the Illinois School for the Deaf. The Office Coordinator drafts, keyboards and proofs memoranda, reports and correspondence. Serves as Evaluation Center receptionist and as primary timekeeper for the Evaluation Center. Establishes and maintains tickler and follow-up systems of evaluations, schedules and consents. Uses sign language in daily performance of duties.
Essential Functions
Performs paraprofessional secretarial work in the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD) Evaluation Center.
Tracks and supports maintenance of the Eligibility Review (ER) due date list.
Serves as Evaluation Center receptionist.
Creates ERs and Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) in Skyward.
Maintains an updated list of local education agency and home school information for students; contact information for IEP/ER meetings; research consent; and monthly Evaluation Center schedule.
Serves as primary timekeeper for the Evaluation Center. Enters daily attendance accurately and timely for staff.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience or two (2) years of independent business experience.
Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
Requires ability to communicate in sign language at the survival plus level.
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite in the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
