What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mgr- Food Safety position at Illinois Institute of Technology?
The Institute for Food Safety and Health ( IFSH ) is a consortium that includes IIT , FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition ( CFSAN ) and the food industry. IFSH comprises IIT faculty and staff, FDA scientists of CFSAN’s Division of Food Processing Science and Technology physically co-located in the building, and industry member companies. IFSH is a unique, one-of-a-kind institute where FDA , academia and the industry join forces and conduct research and training in a neutral groud to address major international food safety and nutrition issues.
In addition, IFSH hosts the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance ( FSPCA ), whose mission is to develop food safety preventive controls training curricula on FSMA implementation for the food industry. The FSPCA members comprise senior international food safety experts from government, industry and academia.
The Manager-Food Safety position is expected to perform a variety of duties including leading and delivering industry projects and managing FSPCA Technical Assistance Network.
The salary range for this role is $100,000 – $115,000 and is commensurate with experience.
COMMUNICATIONS
Excellent technical writing, presentation and other and communication skills are required. Candidate will serve as primary point of contact for FSPCA training activities as well as facilitate and coordinate internal training activities within IFSH . Candidate will be responsible for distance learning efforts, including but not limited to webinars, conference calls, and other electronic communications with stakeholders.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Works with FDA , academia and industry partners. Takes lead in food safety related training programs. Develops internal status reports/updates. Strives to exceed customer expectations.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
MS degree in Food Safety/Food Science or related field with 5-10 or more years of related accomplishments. Candidates with experience and track record of providing food safety training programs to industry will be highly desirable. Experience working within the food industry is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated scientific expertise in food safety and food science, leadership and management skills. Knowledge and experience with distance learning and/or other electronic means of instruction is critical. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) is required; good organization skills that can contribute to the development of complex departmental budgeting. Experience in Salesforce is a plus.

May lift up to 10lbs. on occasion and will do repetitive motions (up to 20% of time) in data entry and manipulating instruments.
