Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, multi-state sales tax regulations, and experience with financial reporting and reconciliations. The candidate should hold at least an associate's degree in accounting or a related field. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with state and local tax regulations, and supporting the accounting team with general accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns on a timely basis, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales tax liabilities across multiple states.
· Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
· Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
· Reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying discrepancies and assisting with resolution.
· Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and supporting schedules.
· Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for improving financial processes and internal controls.
· Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other reports as needed.
· Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and adherence to company policies.
Qualifications:
· Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
· 2 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of multi-state sales tax regulations.
· Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
· Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with sales tax software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex).
· Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks).
