What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brothers Rise Up Champions of Character – High School Summer School position at Illinois School District U-46?
- Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline issues to the appropriate
- Ensures a safe and respectful environment during sessions.
- Participates in training and staff meetings.
- Collaborates with other staff members to coordinate group activities.
- Supervises students to maintain an orderly atmosphere which is conducive to educational development and individual growth.
- Shows consistency with students and good follow-through with discipline, referral and positive reinforcement in alignment with Brothers Rise Up goals and attributes.
- Facilitates conflict that may occur with students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic CPI training – Preferred
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Has at least 3 to 5 year of experience working with school age students
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to assist in lifting up to 50 lbs. with proper technique.
- This is a temporary summer position.
- Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.Brothers Rise Up and I Am LEAD take place at Ellis MS from June 2 through July 2 with professional development on May 28-29.
LEAD takes place Monday through Friday and BRU take place Monday through Thursday with no school on June 19, 2025 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.
Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.
Staff hours: 8:45 am to 2:15 pm.
Student school day: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
DUSA and DUEA members will be paid their DUEA and DUSA rates.

Function / Position Summary
Supervises students and support the facilitator of the Brothers Rise Up summer session to
maintain a safe and secure environment. Supervision of arrival and departure, classrooms,
hallways and other public areas on school grounds as well as on outings/field trips off site.
Adheres to school and district policies, procedures, and components of the school-wide
management plan/PBIS framework. Maintains confidentiality of student information in the school
and in the community.
