What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brothers Rise Up Summer Facilitator – Equity and Innovation position at Illinois School District U-46?
- Train staff in order to familiarize them with the program
- Provide lessons to ensure all staff deliver academic support and follow-up with students.
- Manage and schedule all guest speakers/presentations for BRU
- Provide support and direction to staff as needed.
- Oversees students in assigned areas and facilitates structured group activities, ensuring compliance with safety rules and procedures.
- Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline issues to the appropriate authority immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible.
- Ensures a safe and respectful environment that honors the dignity of every person at all times.
- Participates in training and staff meetings.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and coordinate curriculum.
- Demonstrates consistency with students and good follow-through with positive reinforcement in alignment with PBIS.
- Facilitates conflict that may occur with students.
- Identify and capitalize on teachable moments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic CPI training- Required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Has at least 3 to 5 year of experience working with school age students
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to assist in lifting up to 50 lbs. with proper technique.
- This is a temporary summer position.

Function / Position Summary
Monitor, mentor, and develop students' behaviors and offer curriculum/activities to improve
character development, social skills, leadership, academic excellence, and career development.
Adheres to school and district policies, procedures, and components of the school-wide
management plan/PBIS framework. Maintains confidentiality of student information in the school
and in the community.

Brothers Rise Up and I Am LEAD take place at Ellis MS from June 2 through July 2 with professional development on May 28-29.
LEAD takes place Monday through Friday and BRU take place Monday through Thursday with no school on June 19, 2025 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.
Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.
Staff hours: 8:45 am to 2:15 pm.
Student school day: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
DUSA and DUEA members will be paid their DUEA and DUSA rates.
