- Fostering staff mindsets and capacity to respond to student behaviors compassionately, equitably, and restoratively.
- Oversee daily operations of Bloom Academy (Diagnostic Placement Program), ensuring a structured and supportive learning environment and including the following: managing referral, intake, and transition processes, collaborating with school administrators and the Tactical Assessment Team (TAT), and supervision of program staff, including general and special education teachers, BCBA, and paraprofessionals.
- Support the Director of Culture and Climate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a strategic plan for Culture and Climate in U-46, aligned to the district strategic plan and Board policies.
- Monitor student progress at Bloom Academy, conduct regular meetings with school teams and families, and support transition planning, including: ensuring administrators follow communication protocols regarding Bloom Academy placements, program expectations, and reintegration plans.
- Facilitate data collection and program evaluation to assess student progress and refine program implementation.
- Coordinate and oversee the Tactical Assessment Team (TAT) processes, ensuring proper school response to behavioral concerns and threat assessments.
- Serve as the district liaison between TAT, school teams, law enforcement, and external community agencies in managing student threats and crisis responses.
- Collaborate with the assigned TAT School Resource Officer (SRO) and ensure effective communication between SROs in middle and high schools related to Level 2 TAT referrals, as deemed appropriate.
- Work as a member of a cross-functional team within and across district departments, with regular collaboration between MTSS, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Specialized Student Services, and School Safety.
- Facilitate and/or coordinate districtwide, school-based, small group, and /or individual professional learning aligned to strategic priorities.
- Meet regularly with Executive Directors of Networks to review network data and engage in collaborative solution seeking, providing resources and guidance to schools as needs arise.
- Support the Director in seeking feedback from relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations for revisions to the Student Code of Conduct.
- Improve the safety of staff and students by ensuring the implementation of Board of Education and Illinois School Code policy and procedures relating to student discipline matters.
- Consult with Regular Education and Specialized Student Services administration to ensure the rights of all students are protected.
- Alongside the Director of CC, review, investigate, and assist building administrators with student discipline matters as requested, including appeals for suspension/expulsion.
- Meet with school teams to conduct school walkthroughs to assess culture/climate conditions using a look-for tool.
- Support school teams in developing 45-day goals and actions as it relates to Conditions/Culture and Climate.
- Work closely with the Director of CC and Executive Directors of Networks to coordinate and monitor the implementation of district Alternative Education Programs and Climate and School Safety, collaborate with the investigation and response to public inquiries and concerns regarding student discipline procedures and crisis response situations.
- Conduct staff appraisals in alignment with the Teacher Appraisal Process (TAP) and Danielson Framework for Teaching specific to the roles within the CC Office.
- Facilitate monthly team meetings providing expectations, professional learning/training, and leadership, as well as Districtwide meetings about the Bloom/TAT process, as needed.
- Support the Director of CC in meeting with constituency groups to discuss school discipline, residency, Dropout Prevention and Education Options, and Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI), Restorative Practices, and TAT.
- Engage with community organizations, law enforcement agencies, and parents to strengthen school-climate partnerships and crisis response protocols.
- Participate in and provide required trainings including but not limited to: CPI Certified Instructor, Restorative Practices Certified Trainer, Trauma-Informed Care, CASEL, Instructional Leadership, Academic Teaming

- Appropriate License (Professional Educator License with General Administrator or Principal Endorsement, or Educator License with stipulations with provisional educator endorsement) Required.
- LBS1 Endorsement, preferred.
- Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred.
- CPI Certified Instructor Training (Preferred - Required within 60 days of appointment.
- Restorative Practices Trainer (Preferred - Required within 90 days of appointment)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of CPI and de-escalation skills.
- Strong understanding of behavior intervention strategies, trauma-informed practices, and restorative justice.
- Experience with investigative interviewing processes and counseling techniques.
- Data analysis and program evaluation experience.
- Working knowledge of the interpretation and enforcement of Illinois School Code and school board policies preferred, including knowledge of school discipline policies and IEP implementation.

Function / Position Summary
The Coordinator of Culture and Climate (CCC) serves as the primary administrator overseeing Bloom Academy, the district’s in-house alternative temporary placement program designed to provide targeted academic and behavioral interventions for students in grades K-8.
The Coordinator of Culture and Climate is responsible for ensuring that school administrators, families, and program staff collaborate effectively to support students during their temporary placement and transition back to their home schools or other identified placement. Additionally, this position will coordinate communication and collaboration among school staff, TAT, law enforcement, and community agencies to ensure proper response to student behavioral concerns and threat assessments.
The measures of success for the CCC include: effective administration of Bloom Academy, ensuring students receive therapeutic and educational support in a timely manner, including positive academic and behavioral outcomes post Bloom placement; improved student attendance and engagement while reducing behavioral incidents, suspensions, and chronic truancy; and stronger coordination between schools, families, and community partners in student support processes.
