POSITION TITLE: EDUCATOR LICENSURE AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT # 1005)
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $60,047-$75,881
The Educator Effectiveness Department is seeking new talent to add to its team! This position will lead and participate in a variety of initiatives and department functions related to educator preparation, licensure, and renewal, including work aimed at improving the department's public facing electronic licensure and renewal applications. This individual will also lead work focused on teacher evaluations, professional development for license renewal, and Illinois Administrator Academies. Additionally, this individual will lead work to build out the department's PD system that provides educators with equitable access to statewide professional development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads and participates in projects and initiatives related to educator preparation, licensure, and renewal, including duties and projects related to teacher and principal performance evaluations, professional development for license renewal, and duties related to developing, testing, and communicating enhancements in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS), Illinois Administrator Academy Management System (IAAMS), and PD application.
- Coordinates and leads meetings, audits, presentations, and trainings with internal staff and stakeholders.
- Oversees department grants and contracts, including awarding, monitoring, reporting, and communicating with grantees and vendors.
- Oversees all aspects of Illinois Administrator Academies (AA's), such as reviewing and approving academy proposals, communicating with providers, and coordinating training for agency staff and stakeholders.
- Completes evaluations for educator licensure.
- Reviews test scores, transcripts, and other supporting documents to ensure educators meet requirements to obtain Illinois licensure.
- Provides excellent service and technical assistance to stakeholders through email, phone, virtual, and personal communication and serves as a department lead for communication to stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- Valid Professional Educator License. (COPY OF LICENSE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) working as a teacher, school support personnel, or administrator in an Illinois public school.
- Experience serving as the lead on work projects, assignments or trainings with little direction from management.
- General knowledge of Illinois preparation, licensure, and renewal processes.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work independently with little direction from management.
- Working knowledge of the Educator Licensure Information System and PD application.
- Ability to use virtual platforms to participate in and conduct meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Degree in Education.
- Professional Educator License endorsed for General Administration or Principal.
- Experience completing Administrator Academies for the purposes of license renewal.
- Experience conducting teacher performance evaluations.
- Experience developing or leading professional development for educators, and experience designing and disseminating publications (such as a newsletter) to stakeholders in education.
