Job Summary
The GIS Student Intern will be part of the Facilities Services Summer Internship Program that provides opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experiences including lunch and learn sessions, field experiences in Facilities operations, career prep sessions, and site visits.
This position will support the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Facilities Services Department.
Duties and responsibilities include :
Develops a data repository and tracking system, as well as performs data management tasks with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including data collection, validation, and analysis to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Produces and updates maps, layers, map layouts, spreadsheets, as well as other visualization documents for department and special projects.
Utilize Geographic Information System techniques to enhance database structure management and streamline business processes.
Conduct and engage in team meetings to communicate updates, track progress, share insights, and gather feedback.
Perform other duties and functions for Facilities Services as assigned.

Pay Rate

Required Qualifications
Current student in an undergraduate program with an emphasis in Geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or other related fields.
Completed the following courses : GEO 303 (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems) and GEO 304 (Advanced Geographic Information Systems).
Knowledge in, or an understanding of, the operation of mapping and database software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Collector, Geodatabases, and ArcGIS geoprocessing toolbox.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to communicate with individuals from various technical and educational backgrounds.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and take initiative on projects as needed.
Proficiency in ArcGIS mapping and database software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Collector, Geodatabases, and ArcGIS geoprocessing toolbox.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Work Hours
This is a summer internship to be completed between May 2025 - August 2025. Standard hours are 8 : 00-4 : 30, M-F. Specific hours to be determined upon hire.
