Duties & Responsibilities
- Facilitate intake and screening of new reports, identifying levels of concern, gathering additional information using internal and open-source techniques, and seeking clarification from reporters as needed.
- Monitor and track reports to ensure compliance with recommendations, conduct ongoing assessments, and address new or emerging concerns.
- Assist the Director of Threat Assessment in managing the Threat Assessment Team (TAT), a multidisciplinary committee with members from various stakeholder offices across campus. This includes leading meetings and coordinating reports in the Director’s absence.
- Oversee the Threat Assessment email account and triage reports concerning behavior involving faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Conduct threat assessment interviews with another TAT member using structured professional judgment tools.
- Maintain high-quality analysis and documentation of work (e.g., notes, report files) in the database system. Collect and analyze collateral interviews, documents, and other information relevant to violence risk assessments. Document completed assessments, management actions, and interventions.
- Conduct educational and outreach efforts on critical topics related to Threat Assessment (e.g., behaviors of concern, de-escalation techniques, reporting process) through in-person and virtual presentations, social media, traditional marketing materials, and other multimedia efforts.
- Support Threat Assessment Team meetings and discussions through accurate documentation of information and interventions shared.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of campus resources, policies, and procedures relevant to the Threat Assessment Program. Assist the Director with reviewing and updating the Threat Assessment Program Handbook and creating resources for the program.
- Take on additional assignments based on office needs, including policy and procedure review and development, assessment creation, and database management.
- Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and privacy requirements related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Clery Act, and Law Enforcement sensitive records. Maintain adherence to professional ethical standards in threat assessment.
