Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the statewide Information Technology (IT) Service and Physical Security Coordinator for the Physical Services Division within the Office of Finance and Administration. IDPH Physical Services Division oversees the successful maintenance, renovation, reorganization, and continuity of 17 agency facilities throughout Illinois. This position is responsible for agency IT service requests and IT related expenditures, developing and maintaining physical security protocols, contracting security hardware and software installations, agency access control badge operations, and coordinating IT and physical security repair services as needed. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing physical security upgrades at IDPH sites through hardware, software, policy, and procedure projects. This position supports IDPH Physical Services Division during space renovation and relocation projects. The selected candidate will also serve as a backup to our Telecom Coordinator and Facilities Coordinator positions, when needed. Some travel will be required to successfully complete the required duties of this position.

Essential Functions
- Under general direction of the Division Chief of Physical Services, as a policy implementing manager, performs highly sensitive and professional level duties performing a variety of assignments, and serves as the statewide Information Technology (IT) Service Coordinator for the Illinois Department of Public Health.
- Serves as statewide physical security coordinator for IDPH.
- Reviews and distributes monthly bills to offices.
- Coordinates moving of IT services and equipment for all office moves.
- Maintains IT and security equipment inventory.
- Assumes responsibility for division operations during the absence of the Division Chief and makes decisions requiring knowledge of current regulations and practices as well as Division priorities.
- Assumes responsibility for Telecommunications Coordinator and/or Facilities Coordinator during an absence.
- Determines IT and Physical Security budget and spending projects.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year experience submitting and coordinating IT service requests.
- Requires one (1) year experience working with data and low-voltage electrical systems as they pertain to service requests for new data lines.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year working experience with door access control systems.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year experience maintaining facility badging and access control processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization performing estimating and budgeting.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year experience submitting and coordinating IT service requests.
- One (1) year experience working with data and low-voltage electrical systems as they pertain to service requests for new data lines.
- One (1) year working experience with door access control systems.
- One (1) year experience maintaining facility badging and access control processes.
- One (1) year experience working on projects involving multiple state agencies or organizations.
- One (1) year experience reconciling invoices, ledgers, expense reports or equivalent accounting documents.
- One (1) year experience processing telecom service requests.
- One (1)year facility management experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience of meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking.
- Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in developing, implementing and interpreting departmental policies and procedures
Conditions of Employment
