Position Overview
The Illinois State Police is accepting applications for an Office Coordinator to assist the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) personnel with clerical and administrative duties for the Division of Criminal Investigation. SOCOM houses SWAT and Air Operations and works with the OOF on procurement issues including producing documents justifying a budget comprised of State and Federal grant funds. Applicant will work in concert with the Administrative Assistant II to handle travel vouchers, filing, personnel paperwork and other clerical duties as assigned in the office. Applicant should be comfortable answering the phone and speaking to the public. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new programs.

Essential Functions
- Performs technical secretarial and office support functions which are coordinative in nature and involve a combination of high-level clerical and low-level professional work.
- Maintains electronic bookkeeping and financial ledgers for several cost enters, including but not limited to SOCOM general revenue funds and US Department of Homeland Security grant funds.
- Performs clerical work in controlling and accounting for property for the SOCOM.
- Utilizing Microsoft Word and excel Software, types a variety of complex, technical correspondence and reports.
- Performs advanced word processing functions such as uploading and downloading documents and files, executes file merges, and prepares templates and macros to maximize production.
- Answers inquiries pertinent to SOCOM functions.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience, or two years of independent business experience.
- Requires ability to accurately type 30 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers a minimum of two (2) years experience of office practices, procedures and programs.
- Prefers a minimum of two (2) years experience of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Prefers a minimum of two (2) years experience of basic mathematics.
- Prefers a minimum of two (2) years experience of the logic of computer programs.
- Prefers ability to follow oral or written instructions.
- Prefers ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.
