Position overview:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations is seeking to hire an Accountant Advanced for the Intake and Deposit Unit. This position is responsible for preparing the Department’s State Collections Act Accounts Receivable (SCAAR) report for all accounts receivables monitored within the Department for submission to the Comptroller, analyzing and reconciling the credit balance report to establish re-enrollment into the Department programs, reconciling the Department’s accounting system transactions, verifying electronic credit card authorizations for payment on the call center hotline, and serving as a backup for the Reconciliation and Account Receivable Accountants. The ideal candidate will have experience assuming fiscal responsibilities in State government or a private business organization. The preferred candidate will be highly motivated and able to prioritize tasks to ensure timely work completion.

Essential Functions
- Under direction, serves as the State Collections Accountant for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Division of Finance, Bureau of Fiscal Operations (BFO) by preparing the Department's State Collections Act Accounts Receivable (SCAAR) report for all accounts receivables monitored within the Department for submission to the Comptroller
- Reconciles the Department's accounting system transactions to the Integrated Eligibility System (IES)
- Reconciles the Department's Systems Applications and Product (SAP) accounting system transactions
- Verifies electronic credit card authorizations for payment on the call center hotline
- Serves as backup for the reconciliation accountant and accounts receivable accountant
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with courses in business administration and accounting
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control, or public accounting
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to pass a background check.
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This includes the ability to work evenings and weekends.
