Duties & Responsibilities
- Directly supervises, provides leadership, and assigns work to Temperature Control Mechanics assigned to the temperature control shop to be completed in accordance with prioritized needs and schedules. Plans and organizes the project work performed by temperature control mechanics and other assigned personnel. Assists with estimates by providing labor and material costs for assigned projects which may include departmental charge-out, maintenance repairs, and preventative maintenance. Works closely with the Energy Management Control Center, utilities and energy services shops, project coordinators, engineering, and building maintenance. Monitors schedule and controls craft-related costs. Performs temperature control work as needed or assigned, including control system design/redesign.
- Monitors work performance of assigned personnel and ensures satisfactory work quality and completion requirements are being met. Participates in yearly/probational performance evaluations. Monitors work to ensure compliance with prevailing codes and university facilities standards as well as correct procedures and techniques. Visits job sites to ensure satisfactory work quality and completion requirements are being met.
- Participates in job/project meetings with other job/project stakeholders Participates in weekly work management meetings and execute the EMS work management flow. Continue to improve on the shop KPI’s and strive to meet the goals.
- Maintains records and prepare reports of work completed, material purchasing, overtime lists, training records, repairs accomplished, maintenance needs, preventive maintenance, and systems redesign. Verifies and approves mobile timekeeping and/or timecards.
- Controls workflow, tools, materials, transportation, and information necessary for craftsmen and the successful accomplishment of the work assignment.
- Makes recommendations for safety initiatives and programs, hiring and discipline, and addresses performance issues and the EMS shops jurisdictional work document is followed.
- The sub-foreperson must be available to provide leadership for emergency response during off normal working hours to handle problems relating to temperature control issues.
