Key Responsibilities:
- Interviews, examines and diagnoses patients during clinic visits.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, interprets results, and communicates appropriate treatment options to patients. May refer patient to medical specialist or another practitioner when necessary.
- Reviews and maintains patients' records and medical histories in timely fashion and records patients' progress.
- May perform minor surgical procedures such as wound care, suturing, joint aspirations and injections and administering immunizations.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions. Discusses potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensures that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing.
- Provides education and counseling to patients and their families that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing
- Accurately records correct healthcare diagnoses to ensure correct billing.
- Stays current on the latest medical research, practices and procedures impacting clinical care.
- Adheres to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA, federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Completes administrative assignments as requested by Medical Director and partners with providers within practice to ensure a collaborative environment.
- Actively participates in monthly provider team meetings and performance reviews with Medical Director.
- Full Florida medical license
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
- EMR, eClinical Works experience
- Managed Care experience
