Description
Responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the accounting department including department personnel, the accounting system, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Responsibilities
- Provides day to day management of the accounting department; ensures department is appropriately staffed; makes hiring recommendations, manages and trains personnel; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Participates in company budget management process and monitors and analyzes operating results against budget.
- Ensures the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports and corporate tax returns.
- Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis, identifies variances; and implements corrective action.
- Designs and maintains accounting processes, including journal entries and General Ledger, payroll, monthly bank reconciliations and month-end close processes which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the company’s value. Improves processes for efficiency.
- Performs internal audits of each division and reports results to the CFO.
- Supports the CFO in financial planning and analysis; assists CFO with management of cash flow and pro-actively recommends appropriate actions.
- Manages the company insurance policies.
- Monitors line of credit and long-term debt.
- Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports as assigned by CFO.
- Ensures all financial transactions of the company comply with all federal, state, company and financial institution regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions and all accounting policies are in accordance with GAAP.
- Assists with administering human resource policies and procedures, including coordination with human resource service providers.
- Performs other directly related appropriate duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated by Executive Management, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA certification preferred.
- Must possess 5-10 years of accounting and/or finance experience.
- Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
