Position Overview: Lead Accountant for a new brokerage division to include accounts payable, month end closing, and supervisory responsibilities. This division will be fast paced, and a large volume client that requires attention to detail, adaptability to changes in processes for best practice pursuit, and ability to manage multiple staff and projects. This hands-on person must have a take charge attitude, be proactive in researching and resolving issues, and be open to feedback.
Important Job Functions
- Accounts Payable
- GL/expense coding, data input, and approval requests
- Payment batch preparation and review to ensure accuracy of payment terms
- Review and posting of payables batches from integrations
- Reconcile vendor statements – work with other departments as needed to resolve issues
- Month-end closing
- Balance sheet account review/analysis
- Reconciliation report ties to general ledger
- Transactions in account are valid
- Posting general ledger accruals as needed
- P&L review/analysis
- Review for potential coding errors
- Analyze prior period expenses in comparison with current period for trends
- Maintain high quality, client focused and customer service-oriented relationships
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or Accounting or equivalent preferred
- 5 years of accounting experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Dedication of learning in an accounting environment
- Effective communication skills with users, employees and supervisor
- Excellent organization skills and time management
- Effective Customer Service and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to train and develop team
