What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at IMC Logistics?
Position Overview: Possess the basic skills and knowledge to perform depot, essential safety, and compliance functions with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks.
Essential Depot Job Functions:
- Inspect equipment and note any damages
- Process interchange receipts
- Inputs into data the Depot computer system
- Complete Daily Lot Checks
- Ensuring customer SOP’s are met
- Ensure the lanes are clean, trash is picked up, equipment is working properly (i.e. tablets, pcs, lights, air conditioners etc.)
- Communicate issues with staff or drivers to management
- Responsible for adding and deleting bookings in the depot system
- Assist with monthly inventory
- Correct and update system with correct unit numbers or units needing to be placed on hold
- Run reports for specific Customers
- Ensure daily activity is entered accurately and timely to ensure auto reports are accurate
Essential Safety & Compliance Functions:
- Process qualified Owner Operators and Company Drivers in Tenstreet hiring platform
- Conduct new driver orientation classes
- ELD management - Training and monitoring ELD compliance
- Coordinate road tests and training for Limited Experience Driver program
- Assist with all aspects of safety compliance in region
- Employee first report of accident or injury contact for region
- Responsible for ongoing and corrective action driver instruction and training
- Respond to and investigate local IMC accidents/incidents and report to claims services
- Ensure timely and correct handling of IMC random drug/alcohol test notices
- Supervise maintenance, repair, and driver inspection reports for company truck fleet
- Support and attend annual Driver Safety Banquets and Driver appreciation events
- Manage supply levels for driver gear (Safety vests, gauges, ELDs, cords, placards, numbers for trucks)
- Install onboard dash cameras and Electronic Log Devices
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work outside for extended periods of time.
- Be able to work flexible shifts.
- Ability to conduct CMV driver safety and operations instruction and training.
- Ability and desire to promote IMC to potential CMV drivers.
- Self-starter with ability to work in a modern office, skills including, scanning, MS Office suite, using 3rd party web programs, picture transfer/uploading.
- Ability to operate small handheld tools and climb into a class 8 tractor trailer.
