What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at LPX Group?
Purpose –
As a key member of the Environmental Health and Safety Team, candidate would assist in the development, implementation of company policies and procedures, daily jobsite visits, monthly audits, investigate incidents, complete accident reports, annual training, and log daily submitted reports.
Duties and Responsibilities –
- Review and maintain the company’s Environmental Health & Safety Program, to include a formally written plan that is updated based on company needs and changing safety requirements.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local and industry specific safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain all safety related documentation
- Monitor programs for compliance with existing and new OSHA Standards; analyzes and reviews policies and programs.
- Develops and reviews recommended procedures and methods based on reports of incidents, accidents, near misses.
- Prepares reports and maintains control of records related to safety and health programs.
- Develop, administer, and lead in all annual EHS training.
- Conducts job site visit, inspections, and audits weekly.
- Measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety program, using established goals.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving safety.
- Develops and manages safety field safety recognition programs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience –
- Associates Degree or 5 years’ experience in related field.
- 1-2 years’ experience general safety and investigating incident.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in health & safety or related field.
- OSHA 30 Training
- Internal Auditing

- Strong interpersonal skills: must work well in teams and be able to develop relationships
- Comfortable discussing safety behavior and performance opportunities with employees and leaders across the organization.
- Understanding of construction projects and OSHA Standard 1926
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks, complete projects, and paperwork on time.
- Strong work ethic and high degree of initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in conducting accident investigations and writing reports.
