SUMMARY
Assists with company-wide human resource programs and the day-to-day management of personnel. Provides functional guidance for human resources administrative support needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
- Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions in the corporate area; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Oversees background check process; reviews results and recommends action involved
- Works with payroll department to reconcile discrepancies related to employee time entries
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; productivity; training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires a bachelor?s degree in a related field
- Human Resources certification preferred
- Experience within the Maritime industry preferred
- Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Most work performed in office environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
