Our client, a leading manufacturing company in the Newaygo MI area, is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee all aspects of inventory control, material procurement, production planning, and warehousing operations. This role ensures smooth and cost-effective supply chain operations while driving process improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. - Create and manage departmental plans, budgets, and the master production schedule using sales forecasts, material availability, and capacity planning.
- Lead and monitor inventory levels, raw material procurement, warehousing, and shipping operations to meet production and delivery goals.
- Oversee production planning activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective product launches.
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and Materials Department requirements while shaping future strategies based on business needs.
- Provide operational leadership, supervising and guiding a team of professional and managerial staff.
- Drive cost, quality, and delivery improvements by developing and implementing new systems and processes.
- Establish and manage inventory objectives, optimizing stock rotation while identifying and minimizing obsolete inventory.
- Lead safety, quality, and productivity initiatives, conducting workplace inspections and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and ISO14001 policies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to make informed business decisions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
- 8 years of professional and managerial experience, including financial/budget responsibility and strategic leadership.
- 6 years of experience in theautomotive industry
- Strong expertise in production material planning, scheduling, and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts.
