Our client, a leading manufacturing company in the Newaygo MI area, is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee all aspects of inventory control, material procurement, production planning, and warehousing operations. This role ensures smooth and cost-effective supply chain operations while driving process improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. Key Responsibilities
Create and manage departmental plans, budgets, and the master production schedule using sales forecasts, material availability, and capacity planning.
Lead and monitor inventory levels, raw material procurement, warehousing, and shipping operations to meet production and delivery goals.
Oversee production planning activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective product launches.
Ensure compliance with company, customer, and Materials Department requirements while shaping future strategies based on business needs.
Provide operational leadership, supervising and guiding a team of professional and managerial staff.
Drive cost, quality, and delivery improvements by developing and implementing new systems and processes.
Establish and manage inventory objectives, optimizing stock rotation while identifying and minimizing obsolete inventory.
Lead safety, quality, and productivity initiatives, conducting workplace inspections and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and ISO14001 policies.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to make informed business decisions.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
8 years of professional and managerial experience, including financial / budget responsibility and strategic leadership.
6 years of experience in the automotive industry
Strong expertise in production material planning, scheduling, and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts.
