Classroom Teaching Aide
Reports directly to the School Principal and serves assigned classrooms and teachers
High school diploma or GED required; preference given to associates degree or prior experience
Part-time (.73 FTE; Average 40 Hours/Week for School Term)
Summary of Position
Abundant Life Christian School is seeking a warm and friendly personality sensitive to the needs of others and able to relate well to children and co-workers. A teaching aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in a service-oriented position providing day-to-day support to students, faculty, staff and parents.

- Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership and integrity to "train up a child in the way he should go"
Required Qualifications
Our Teaching Aides shall meet the minimum qualifications for the job:
- Show evidence of Christian maturity and a strong grasp of the essence of Christian education
- Have a love of children and heart to serve others
- Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and timeliness
- Meet everyday stress with prayerful consideration, emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
- Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
- Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately; avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)
Primary Responsibilities
Our Teaching Aides shall assist our faculty, provide leadership and support in the classroom and on the playground as needed, and serve our students and school through support of the day-to-day school functions by:
- Reflecting the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
- Assisting with set-up and clean-up of learning environment
- Assisting the classroom teacher with planning and implementing of instruction or administrative duties under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Supervising the room when the classroom teacher is out of the room or engaged in individualized instruction
- Assisting with general housekeeping as needed or assigned by the teacher or administration
- Assisting teachers in any way appropriate including but not limited to: Overseeing the classroom, helping students, supporting classroom management and student behavior, encouraging spiritual growth, assisting with projects, prepping materials, helping with grading, putting up bulletin boards or projects, laminating, photocopying, etc.
- Supporting teachers by partnering for classroom learning and behavior management
- Managing and supervising student free time on the playground by enforcing playground rules and maintaining safety standards; providing discipline in accord with school policy
- Supervising and assisting students with lunch
- Maintaining professional attitude while interacting with students, faculty, staff and parents
- Treating all children with dignity and respect
- Participating in professional development, team meetings, staff meetings, and other opportunities to grow spiritually, enrich/enhance knowledge of childhood education, etc.
- Recognizing the need for good public relations; represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and community
- Knowing the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature
- Executing other duties as assigned
