Title: Mail Entry Clerk II
Job Classification: Hourly, Non-exempt
Department: Mail Entry
Reports To: Mail Entry Supervisor
General purpose of Job: Assist in the preparation of finished mailings for acceptance by the USPS.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn and utilize internal programs and software's
- Support Lettershop with printing tags/placards and setting up job jackets
- Work and communicate with outside vendors and couriers
- Flexible with work hours to help support 1st and 2nd shift when needed
- Perform QC required procedures
- Use forklift and pallet jacks to move skids to their locations
- Strap and stack postal trays on mailing skids
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to work independently and maintain production standards
- Communicate with postal clerks on a daily basis
- Load outgoing mail into postal trucks
- Knowledge of postal regulations
- Meet deadlines and exercise good judgment
- Work as a team member to complete jobs with quality accuracy and profitability
- Keep production areas clean at all times
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor
Performance Measurement: Performance feedback will take place both verbally and written on a day-to-day as needed basis, recognition in monthly employee recognition meetings, formal training on changes in SOP as needed with a formal review by the supervisor at least annually
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED; 1 year related Mailing Operations experience.
Language and Math Skills:
Ability to read a limited number of one & two syllable words. Also to print & speak simple sentences. Ability to add & subtract two digit numbers and to multiply & divide with 10s & 100s.
Physical Demands:
Often standing or walking, may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Often lift up to 40 lbs & sometimes up to 70 lbs with assistance of another employee. Use hands to finger, handle or feel. Reach with hands and arms. Vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, & ability to focus.
Work Environment:
Work near moving mechanical parts, fumes & air borne particles, risk of electrical shock, and exposure to toxic chemicals. The noise level is moderate to loud.
